Baba Basukinath Dham

Baba Basukinath Temple is a very famous Temple in Dumka in the Santhal Parganas division of the state of Jharkhand, India. The temple is located on Deoghar to Dumka route. The Temple is situated in Dumka district, about 42 km away from Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar. Baba Basukinath temple is one of the oldest temples in Dumka. In the same compound of Basukinath Dham, small temples of various other god and goddess can found. It is believed that, if the Jal Abhishek ceremony is not done in the Basukinath temple, the worship of Baba Baidyanath Temple Deoghar remains incomplete. Rules for Pilgrims

There are many rules for pilgrims in the month of Shravan. All the pilgrims coming in the month of Shravan must follow certain rules.

  1. Vegetarianism
  2. celibacy
  3. Truthfull
  4. Accuracy of speech and thought
  5. Alcohol and smoking should be avoided.
  6. Avoid using oils, soaps, shoes and leather items.
  7. Avoid planting Kanwar on the ground.
Note : Intoxicants, meat, alcohol and vengeful food are prohibited during the pilgrimage in the month of Shravan.  Apart from this, all the devotees wearing kanwar should not touch the kanwar without taking bath during the kanwar yatra and Shravani Mela.

Precautions for Pilgrims

  1. Always beware of pickpockets.
  2. Do not wear or keep any kind of precious jewelery (gold or diamond etc.) during the journey or in the temple premises.
  3. Do not believe the rumours at all.  Find out the right information.
  4. In case of theft or conflict, contact the nearest policy station.
  5. Don’t crowd unnecessarily.
  6. Maintain a queue while entering the temple hall
  7. Follow all the instructions given by the officials.
  8. Stay safe from a stampede by keeping yourself calm.
