Baba Basukinath Dham is a very sacred temple of Lord Shiva located in the Dumka district. It is about 45–46 km from Deoghar and around 25 km from Dumka town.
This temple is very important because the journey of Baidyanath Dham is considered incomplete without visiting Basukinath Dham.

Ancient History
Basukinath Dham is believed to be a very ancient place of Shiva worship. Though exact written records are not available, local traditions say this temple has existed for hundreds to thousands of years.
🐍 Mythological Story (Pauranik Katha)
The history is connected with Samudra Manthan.
Vasuki Nag (serpent king) helped in churning the ocean
After that, he worshipped Lord Shiva at this place
Shiva blessed him and stayed here as Shivling
That is why the name became Basukinath
(Basuki = Vasuki, Nath = Lord Shiva)
🐍 Nag Worship Belief
It is believed that snakes used to perform milk abhishek on Shivling
This made the temple highly sacred
Even today, it is connected with Nag Devta worship
